Hanky Pancreas™: Transformative Fashion for Diabetes Technologies

For a person living with a hidden disability such as diabetes, the desire for social inclusion can have a significant impact on day-to-day disease management. Insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring devices have and will continue to provide advanced technological solutions, however, they have been designed and marketed using a medical rather than social model. Hanky Pancreas, LLC applies principles of fashion and user-centered design to medicine by developing a series of products that transform wearable diabetes technologies into a key fashion accessory and conversation piece.

Bio

Jessica Floeh is the founder of Hanky Pancreas, LLC, a series of functional yet fashionable products to better integrate wearable diabetes technologies with the human experience. The current collection is focused on women and consists of scarves, neck pieces and other decorative elements that envelop the insulin pump or continuous glucose monitor. Jessica is passionate about challenging current models of design for medical devices and her products represent a movement toward a socially dynamic and new way of interacting with diabetes technology. The goal of Hanky Pancreas is to ignite positive conversations and holistically improve health for those living with diabetes.
